Kents Cavern is one of the most important Stone Age sites in Europe and one of Britain's best showcaves! The cave was home to ancient humans, sheltering from extreme weather, making fires, shaping tools and hunting Ice Age animals. As you walk through the extensive labyrinth of caverns, you'll be surrounded by 400 million-year-old rocks and spectacular stalagmites and stalactites.
St Winifred’s is one of the finest village churches in Devon with many interesting features. The 12th century square central tower is one of only four completely Norman towers in Devon. The nave is Norman, the transepts perhaps mid 13th century. The chancel is probably 14th century. St Winifred's is one of the best churches in Devon.
The Jack the Ripper Museum, situated in a historic Victorian house in the heart of Whitechapel, tells the full story of the Jack the Ripper murders. 1888 the time when London was the greatest city in the world, where the greatest unsolved crimes of all time took place.
As you explore the museum, you can discover everything about the lives of the victims, the main suspects in the murders, the police investigation and the daily life of those living in the east end of London in 1888.
On the stairs, you can see details of each murder recorded on the walls. The victims’ names, ages and murder locations are shown, along with newspaper reports and illustrations of the crimes.

The Jack the Ripper murders occurred in the East End of London in 1888 and. The Whitechapel Murderer was a threat to a very small section of the community in a small part of London but the crimes had a huge impact on society as a whole.
Focusing the attention of the press and the public at large on the streets and people of one of London's poorest and most crime-ridden quarters, Jack the Ripper managed to expose the sordid underbelly of Victorian society and, in so doing, he helped create an awareness amongst the wealthier citizens of London of the appalling social conditions that had been allowed to develope.
