The British Museum was founded in 1753 and opened its doors in 1759. It was the first national museum to cover all fields of human knowledge, open to visitors from across the world.

The pier at Eastbourne opened in 1870, and has endured a number of fires. It’s thriving again now, with a nightclub, a traditional fish and chips shop, and the wonderfully retro Victorian Tea Rooms
