Margam Castle - The Gardens

 19th-century gothic Tudor residence

This 19th Century Tudor Gothic Mansion was designed by the architect Thomas Hopper for Christopher Rice Mansel Talbot.

The house was built in 1830 - 40

The Orangery in the Park was built to house a great collection of orange, lemon and other citrus trees, which the Talbots inherited from their Mansel forebears. Legends suggest that originally they were originally a gift for the crown. As they were being transported the ship was wrecked on the coast near Margam and the trees claimed by the Mansels.
Today, with its wonderful setting, monastic ruins and gothic style mansion house, this delightful and elegant venue will provide you with the style and surroundings to enhance any event.

Margam Park is a Grade I listed garden and landscape, where you are surrounded by beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers, classic and modern planting, lakes and long vistas which have evolved since medieval times.
