Slupsk - memory of holiday

Słupsk is a town located in northern Poland in Pomorskie Voivodeship (Province). It is a land and urban county as well as the seat of Słupsk Commune. The town is situated on the Słupia River, on the Słowińskie Coastland, about 18 km from the Baltic Sea.

In the 9th century, the inhabitants of the Eastern Pomerania founded a fortified settlement which was located on an important trade route leading from Szczecin to Gdańsk; the settlemnt, the remanants of which are visible today, was established on the island which was created by the meandering river. Next to Słupsk, a small village was established on the suburbs of the town (today the region of Brzozowa Street), and in the 12th century, crafts and trading settlement was established on the left bank of the Słupia River.
