Aula Leopoldina in Wrocław

One of the most interesting rooms is the splendorous Aula Leopoldina, where Leopold I (founder of the university) and his sons - Joseph I and Charles VI - are glorified. The Aula is located on the 1st. floor. It plays a large role in the ceremonial elements of university life, and the most important academic events take place here
The Aula Leopoldina is one of the University of Wroclaw halls and used as a lecture room as well as venues for conferring degrees and other liturgical occasions. An authentic Baroque style; this university named after the Austrian Emperor Leopold, does feature many frescoes reflecting symbolisms of religion and academic learning. Besides the stucco work; the stunning murals in this hall will leave anyone awed by its glowing beauty. Distinct on both sides, are walls richly ornate with century old paintings and sculptures of founding intellectuals from the time the university was established.

A special role was played by the illusionistic painting. Above the podium, we see an act of devotion to the care of the University of the Virgin Mary, the audience is shown the apotheosis of Divine Wisdom, and a gallery above the music - the apotheosis of the Wisdom of the Earth, embodied by Enthroned Silesia City Center. Podium is separated from the auditorium and surrounded by columns parietal. The rear wall imitates his triumphal arch containing the apotheosis of Emperor Leopold I. In the middle, on the podium, rises the figure of the Emperor seated on the throne, in armor and with the attributes of power. At the side walls of the set statues of imperial sons - Joseph I (south side) and Charles VI (north side). Before them, on the edge of the podium, there are two boxes: Rector's and the Chancellor. Over their zapleckami appear symbols of divine Providence and secular Authority. Over the Chancellor's Lodge it is shown putto holding university scepter and sword, more than a lodge rector - Rector's gown, cap and laurel wreath.

On the walls of the cavities between window frames, there is a gallery of portraits in oil oval rulers and dignitaries who have contributed to the emergence and development of the University. These portraits were bound in a wonderful frame. On the jambs of windows have been placed oval medallions with busts of prominent scholars, writers and poets, kept in a single color tone.

The interior of the Hall is felt as an indivisible whole, which preserves the perfect balance of architectural forms, sculpture and painting. The warm tone of frescoes  with various shades of brown elements of architecture, with white statues and gilded ornaments. The mood of solemnity and grandeur, which radiates Hall, completely devoid of coolness and formality. The original Baroque interior is a perfect complement to the interior. In the middle of the podium there are two rows of stalls, decorated with eagles and garlands. Stalls placed in front of the cathedral, and the already mentioned professorial lodges are located on both sides of the room. Benches auditorium stand down, forming two rows with the transition in the middle. Inside, saturated so great variety of forms and content is lost in part a sense of reality. The viewer absorb the surrounding beauty, with a sense of its existence as an autonomous unit, and also particles of the universe.
