Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument with a rich history, built over several centuries, and remains one of the most iconic and mysterious sites in the world.
Stonehenge was built in several stages, starting around 3000 BCE and continuing until about 1520 BCE. The famous circle of large sarsen stones was erected between 2600 BCE and 2400 BCE.
The monument is primarily made of sarsen stones, a type of silicified sandstone, and bluestones, which were transported from Wales, approximately 225 kilometers away.
